The long standing tradition of a dip on St. Stephen’s day each year, started back in 2011 with a load of neighbours from Dollymount Park/Rise.

Over the years it grew and shrank in numbers but no matter rail/hail/snow, it always went ahead.

A building block was always the Donnelly’s famous Christmas morning neighbour extravaganza. Heavenly cocktail sausages and Andy’s heavy handed pouring of wine meant the whole road would be there. This is optimal for the recruiting of people for the dip. Promises were made under pressure and forcefully kept the next morning.

Additionally, some ask, “Why don’t you just dip on Christmas day?!” and our response, “Because it’s Christmas day you weapon”.

As Andy was a key figure for the dip (as with most things), we dedicated the 2021 dip to the big man himself. He must have been working his magic from the other side as it was a spectacular dip.

High tide was at 4pm and there must have been over 25 down at the shelters on the bull wall. There was whiskeys, cake, chats and banter of course.

Check out the pictures from the day (and some from past dips) below.

If you have other pics please add them into the google photo album!

It’s every year so get involved!

xoxo
